Prime Minister Pōhiva in stable condition in Vaiola hospital

Prime Minister ‘Akilisi Pōhiva remains in Vaiola Hospital and was in stable condition according to a Ministry of Health spokesperson.

The spokesperson said Hon Pōhiva has been moved to the hospital’s intensive care unit to avoid being disturbed by visitors who arrived  to see him.

A medical evacuation to New Zealand was planned but later cancelled.

His daughter  ‘Ana Pōhiva Koli said on Facebook this afternoon the Prime Minister was comfortable and fine.

Koli thanked the kāinga and friends for their prayers in which she said were contributed to the Prime Minister’s speed recovery.

The Prime Minister’s illness has yet to be disclosed.

Hon Pōhiva was admitted to the Medical Ward on Friday.
