Two arrested at airport for Tongan passport forgery appeared in court

Two Chinese nationals who were arrested at Tonga’s international airport and were charged  over alleged possession and use of forged Tongan passports appeared in court today.

Magistrate Salesi Mafi released Gungchang Xiao and William Hu on bail to appear at the lower court on Monday, 18 January.

The court case came while Tonga Police were still hunting down two Chinese fugitives identified as 60-year-old Mrs Guo Hua also known as Kam Shanou and 61-year-old Mr Liu Xing Chun also known as Lou Singkei.

Police wanted the couple for allegedly involved in forging information on birth certificates in a bid to get Tongan passports but they vanished  while they were  bailed to appear at the Magistrate Court.

In December last year a 65-year-old woman from Ngele’ia  was arrested and charged with two counts of forgery and knowingly dealing with forged documents. She was set to appear in court on Monday.
