Legends including former Ikaletahi ‘Epeli Taione and former Manu Samoa Brian Lima with nine others laced up their boxing gloves at Dubai Sports City last night, Friday 24, in an amateur black-tie fight to raise funds for the injured triathlete Richard Holland, 30.
The South African triathlete injured when he was knocked off his bike by a car while training for an Iron Event in Dubai last October. He sustained multiple life-threatening injuries which have left him unable to move or communicate.
The band of players included former rugby union stars Shane Williams from Wales, All-Black Carlos Spencer, as well as ex-England One-Day International cricket captain Adam Hollioake, Conrad Jantjes, Bolla Conradie, the former Springbok backs, England rugby league stars Lee Radford, Sean Long, ex-British and Irish Lions and Ireland forward Shane Byrne.
The renowned players performed in two teams dubbed Northern Team and Southern Team.
