Police investigating machete killing in Tonga

Tonga police in Vavaʻu are investigating a homicide in the village of Tuʻanuku after a 23 years old man was attacked with a machete on Wednesday 23.

Police said the incident happened while the victim was watching video together with his attacker.

The attacker, a 40 years old man stood up and grabbed the victim’s own machete and stabbed the victim with.

Police report says the attacker is mentally ill and he was a deportee from Australia.

This is Tonga’s first homicide of the year.
