A gale warning remains inforce for all land areas of Tonga. A heavy rain advisory remains inforce for all of Tonga.  Situation: a tropical disturbance (16f) located to the far west of the group and is expected to gradually moving southeastwards. Associated active trough with cloud, rain and strong winds affects the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for Tonga:

Strong north to northwest winds and may be at times damaging today and tonight.Overcast with periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms.  Possible flash flooding including seas flooding of low lying coastal areas.

Outlook for Friday:

Strong northerly winds, gusty and may be damaging at times. overcast with occassional rain,heavy at times with squally thunderstorms.

Temperature forecast for Nuku’alofa:

max: 27 degrees celsius for today.

min: 23 degrees celsius for tonight.

A gale warning remains inforce for all tonga coastal waters. A heavy damaging swells advisory remains inforce for Vava’u,Ha’apai, Tongatapu and ‘Eua coastal waters. Forecast to midnihgt tonight for all tonga coastal waters:

Expect north to northwest winds 30-35 knots  with momentary gust up to 45 knots today and tonight. Rough to very rough seas. A heavy damaging northwest swells developing.poor visibilities in area of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms.

Outlook for Friday:

Northerly winds 25-35 knots gusting to 40 knots. Very rough seas. a heavy damaging northwest swells.
