Changes to rubbish and recycling collections

Auckland Council is reminding residents to check for changes to their kerbside rubbish, recycling and paper collection schedules this Auckland Anniversary and Waitangi Day holidays.

This will affect collections for two weeks starting Monday 28 January (Auckland Anniversary Day) and in most areas collections will happen one day later than usual.

Please note that there are no changes to collections on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 February (Waitangi Week). Collections will be one day later for the remainder of the week following Waitangi Day, Wednesday 6 February

Normal collection schedule resumes Monday 11 February.

During this time, there will be no changes to Thursday night rubbish collections in Parnell and Newmarket, and the CBD will see no changes to rubbish and recycling collections.

Residents using private collection services, including Rodney district, should contact their suppliers to find out about their service schedules on and following the public holiday.

Sometimes when a business is growing, it needs a little help.

Right now Kaniva News provides a free, politically independent, bilingual news service for readers around the world that is absolutely unique. We are the largest New Zealand-based Tongan news service, and our stories reach TongansĀ  wherever they are round the world. But as we grow, there are increased demands on Kaniva News for translation into Tongan on our social media accounts and for the costs associated with expansion. We believe it is important for Tongans to have their own voice and for Tongans to preserve their language, customs and heritage. That is something to which we are strongly committed. Thatā€™s why we are asking you to consider sponsoring our work and helping to preserve a uniquely Tongan point of view for our readers and listeners.
